Welcome to my Blog. I am excited to share my views about everything we are doing here at the Mason School of Business, especially when it comes to the working professional.
I am sure you all are asking the same question: What do you do when the economy is falling in ruins around you? I believe that times of financial turmoil like these days are precisely the right time for you to hone, refine, and expand on your skill set. So when things start to improve, you will be positioned to seize the opportunities that will come your way. You might even create new opportunities along the way.
OK, you say, sounds good, but I am not sure if I can put aside my career at this time to pursue an MBA. I understand. The Flex and Executive MBA Programs at the Mason School are carefully designed to balance the issues of work, home, and school. Because we offer courses in the evening (Flex MBA) and on weekends (Executive MBA), you will be well on your way, while still performing for your organization, gaining new skills every week that benefit your company’s bottom line.
In this environment, education–and particularly business education–is not a luxury, or even a necessity, but the only way out of our current crisis. At the Mason School of Business, we teach students to think hard and well; to question assumptions; to make thoughtful decisions and plans in the midst of uncertainty; to learn and relearn; and to create new solutions to old problems. These skills are what it will take to rebuild America’s broken financial systems, banks, and investment vehicles, and to revive the housing and credit markets.
What are you doing to meet the demands of the economic downturn? Please share your thoughts with us.
