Greetings and welcome to the inaugural blog from the deans at W&M’s Mason School of Business.
We will be addressing our comments to anyone interested in W&M’s Mason School of Business, but primarily to our alumni. To us, this blog is the next logical step in our efforts to do a better job reaching out and staying in touch. More of you are engaged with us than ever before, and for that we thank you.
Our goal here is to keep you fully informed so that even more of you will become excited and involved, and to let you know that we want to hear from you.
While I have much to share, let me just tell you about one action item that I hope will convince you that we are indeed serious about this effort—and that I hope will whet your appetite to stay tuned.
Our alumni have expressed concerns in the past over our career services effort. Big changes are now in the offing. Our new Director of Graduate Career Services, Mark Case, will be joining us on Feb. 17. Mark was formerly director of MBA career services at the business schools at both Michigan and Yale (where the career services effort was totally transformed under his leadership).
Thanks to the support from one of you, Scott Mackesy, we also have an undergraduate Director of Professional Development, Peggy Gesing, who is beginning her second year with us and has done wonderful things for our undergraduate students. She and Mark will be working hand-in-hand, and with the College Career Services Office, to provide career services outcomes for our students that are simply second to none.
We are rethinking everything, and you will be hearing about our new plans and initiatives in career services in our February Mason Experiences newsletter.
Enough for now.
